Reflections on the Freedom Rides

John Lewis remembers the 1961 Freedom Rides. Lewis joined the Freedom Rides in Washington, DC in early May. He was arrested in South Hill, SC, and restarted the Rides with other Nashville Students in Birmingham, Ala. only to be arrested and upon reaching Montgomery, beaten. Lewis is now is a Congressional Representative for Georgia's Fifth District.
